The sisal used in our sisal rugs is stronger and more durable than most other natural fibers, and is a preferred material for carpet and rugs. All of EcoRug.com's sisal rugs are 100% Brazilian sisal.

The bouclé weave in our sisal rugs is massaging underfoot, but generally not too comfortable to sit on. Sisal rugs and carpets are naturally sound-absorbing, anti-static, naturally insulating and fire resistant.

Sisal, like most natural plant fibers, absorbs atmospheric humidity. We recommend that these materials be used only indoors in dry areas. Sisal rugs will expand and contract slightly with changes in humidity levels.

All of our sisal rugs at EcoRug.com have a heavy, 20 oz. per square yard latex backing. The backing helps to ensure the dimensional stability of the weave, and aids against slipping. We have found that no further backing material is required.
